The Mighty Barito River originated from the foot of Muller range at the border of Central and East Kalimantan Provinces flowing down into the mouth of Java Sea in South Kalimantan Province. It is one of the longest river in Indonesia with 900 KM long and 3000 M wide with hundreds of tributaries flowing through the basin. The river runs dominantly in the lowland and freshwater swamp forests which is favoured by the endemic and non endemic primates due to the floristic compositions. Orangutan Pongo Pygmaeus Wurmbii is one of the endemic primates that mostly inhabit the lowland and freshwater swamp forests nearby the Barito basin and its tributaries, they are primarily frugivorous, with leaves, flowers, insects, and bark providing the remainder of the diet.

Tour Itenary :

Day 01  ARRIVAL IN PALANGKA RAYA – MASURA

Meet at airport and directly transfer to Masura village for about 3,5 hours driving across pristine lowland forest and peat swamp landscape. Next, we will proceed to Bambaler village to explore the traditional boat making and people activities on riverside and then continue our trip by cruising the Masura River where some wildlife like orangutans, proboscis monkeys, long tail macaques, monitor lizards, and others are usually showing up. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent/local house.(L,D)

Day 02  MASURA – DARAT

After breakfast at local house, we will be trekking into the jungle to explore wild orangutans and other wildlife such as birds, sun bears, gibbons, as well as various vegetation of Borneo. In the peaceful evening, we can have a short trekking to explore the nocturnal wildlife of the jungle. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent. (B,L,D)

Day 03  DARAT – MASURA – PAKEN CREEK – BUNTOK

After breakfast, we will be trekking back to Masura village then proceeding to Buntok town by motorized canoe crossing under the canopy of the romantic Paken Creek where proboscis monkeys, long tail macaques, monitor lizards and other wild animals are hanging around the riverside. Arrive at Buntok town and directly transfer to the lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 04  BUNTOK – NAGARA – LOKSADO

Proceed to Sanggu village to explore black orchids and other species as well as carnivorous pitcher plants. Next, we will be driving to Muning village to get our boat cruising the narrow canal to Nagara lake for observing water buffaloes swim to the stall and villagers' unique activities as well as enjoying the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, proceed to Loksado for overnight on lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 05  BAMBOO RAFTING – BANJARMASIN

After breakfast at lodge, we will have a soft trekking to Dayak village for exploring the longhouse, rainforest, and the waterfall nearby the village. Afterwards, we will take an adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside meanwhile our coach will be waiting on the downstream for transferring to Banjarmasin for overnight on hotel. Day 06  FLOATING MARKET – DEPARTURE

Early in the morning, we will leave to floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside, free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your next destination.
